Summer 2017 has been extremely humid.
I am listening, hoping to hear the sounds of acorns thumping to the ground soon.
The acorns dropping are an indication that the humidity and season will soon change.

Money does grow on trees...and on bushes and vines and groundcovers, too.
With edible landscaping, saving money never looked and tasted so good!
It's time to plant your seeds/transplant!

Adorned with poppy seeds, orange peel and Zinnia flowers for exfoliation.
You can even plant this soap!

I will update the blog more this year. At least that is the plan.
As far as farm goals this year, I hope to plant more flowers, veggies and add a medicinal herb garden.
Last week I planted more garlic, peas, turnip greens, arugula, cilantro, parsley and dill. I also cut back the blackberry vines that were ridiculous! Note to self *reserve more chickens from mypetchicken.com
Toodles for now, and Happy New Year

Long associated with the sun and its life-giving warmth, yellow is the age-old spokes-color for warm feelings of friendship and optimism.

There is something very special about home grown food.
It tastes better and is healthier.

Bulbs don't need much light; they don't need good soil; and they don't need cosseting.
My mother in Michigan sent me Iris bulbs in fall of 2014.
The photo above is actually from March 23, 2015.
The iris bloomed completely this year on March 27, 2016.

Wow. Time flies. I need to make more time to update these blog entries and web site.
When we first moved into this home we built, I had commissioned someone to create the most beautiful chicken mailbox you have ever laid eyes on.
Unfortunately, some jerk took a baseball bat to it within 3 days of it being erected.
That was frustrating. I am going to assume and still hope that it was just bored teenagers.
That being said, last month I finally decided to refresh the broken mailbox and give it a facelift. It is not perfect anymore. I haven't made time to paint the blue post a beautiful pink or gold to match the mailbox.
It still makes me smile regardless.
